The Soul's Rest
“When a man is filled with a sinful desire he is in a state of spiritual unrest and disquiet of soul because the provocations of sin in him untoward movements contrary to Nature and the Will of God. For this reason, the Fathers counsel us to strive earnestly for the Rest of Dispassion in which inordinate pleasures are no longer regarded as things to be desired. It is only in this dispassionate state that the soul is truly free from sin and therein finds its rest in God."
